The Grudge Moot is a fun and friendly moot which involves the winners of the QUT and UQ First Year Moot advocating against each other in the ultimate showdown. This provides the best opportunity for QUT competitors to showcase their skills and connect with students from other universities. It also provides first year competitors a fantastic opportunity to hone-in their legal advocacy skills and gain an introduction into competitions.
The Australian Law Students Association (ALSA) coordinates several prestigious national competitions each year. Participation affords students the opportunity to develop practical legal skills and improve legal research and reasoning skills. The winners of QUTLS internal competitions are often chosen to represent QUT and compete in the Championship Moot, Negotiation, Client Interview or Witness Examination competitions run by ALSA.
The Queensland Intervarsity Law Competition (QILC) is a great opportunity for budding advocates in Queensland to further develop their legal skills. Across the week students can practice a full suite of legal communication skills as QILC includes mooting, negotiation and witness examination.
