Clayton Utz First Year Moot Competition 2021
Calling all first-year law students! Welcome to the QUT Law School and the QUTLS Internal Competitions team! The Clayton Utz First-Year Moot is the perfect opportunity to buddy up with your new mates from Intro to Law and Torts to moot against your new classmates.
The problem is based on first year subjects and welcomes first-year students to test their newly acquired knowledge as well as learn about topics they may not have had a chance to study yet. Students may register as a team of 2 or 3 competitors or as single competitors (we will pair you up with another single competitor). Participating in the first-year moot will not only be fun and exciting, but it will be a beneficial addition to your resume! Get ahead of the rest, participate, and get the chance to be crowned QUT’s best First Year-mooting team for 2021. The winners will then go on to compete in the QUT v UQ Grudge Moot in Semester 2 at the Banco Court.
Who: All first-year QUT law students are invited. If you are unsure or don’t know much about mooting, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We’ve got a great Moot Club that students can join and practice their mooting skills in a friendly and safe environment. Where: Your team will be allocated a team to moot against, and both teams will be given either a room on campus for the night of Round 1. Only you and the judges will be present in the room in round 1 (don’t worry, there are no spectators watching and judging you until the final!).
Key dates:
Sign up: by Thursday 1 April in Week 5 (Before Mid-Semester Break).
Preliminary rounds: Monday 12, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 of April in Week 6.
Semis: Monday 19 April in Week 7.
Finals: Thursday 22 April in Week 7.
